Synopsis
In the mid-21st century, cybernetic enhancements have become commonplace, blurring the line between human memory, machine identity, and digital life. Public Security Section 9 officer Major Motoko Kusanagi investigates a mysterious hacker known as the Puppet Master, a case that leads her into a conspiracy involving artificial intelligence, state power, and the question of whether a soul can exist inside a networked body.
